Hello,

My name is Carolyn Matthews and I am a mature student studying Transpersonal Psychology at the Atlantic University in Virginia Beach. One of my courses was on the Near-Death Experience and NDE Survivors. Researching through the several books on this phenomenon and those who had gone through it, and how the NDE affected the survivors and their lives afterwards, I was moved by the fact that the survivors almost all knew that they had a mission to fulfil, but many of these did not know what their mission was. This mission is the soul’s mission, and some NDErs have told me that they have searched for years but not found what it is they need to do to fulfil this mission.

Practically all NDErs say they have received unconditional love and wish to spread unconditional love themselves, but some feel that there is something more that they need to do apart from this.

For my Master’s thesis I am designing a service project in the form of a free course for NDE survivors with a view to providing a course model which others can use to help NDErs to adjust to their changed perspective of life. The basis of my course is to guide participants through various exercises which will help them to access the true answers within themselves, and having found their personal ideal or plan, then to discover a way to channel that in order to bring it into the world around them, and fulfil their soul’s mission.

I have taught this course before to non-NDErs and it does bring a sense of direction and peace in knowing what one needs to do, and how one can go about it. However, I realise that NDErs require a different set of exercises as they are more aware in many ways and because many have developed extra-sensory abilities, all of which needs to be taken into consideration. Therefore I am currently researching for input as to how best to tailor this course, and am open to all suggestions.

The course will be given over six weeks with a lesson and homework each week, and individual attention as it is required. I shall be using transpersonal exercises, including dream-work, meditation, creative visualisation, intuition, journaling, and mythology.

If anyone can think of any other ideas, I am open to suggestion. As I am aiming this course at the level of NDErs’ thinking, I would appreciate it if you could take the time to have a look at the questionnaire. However, this is not a pre-requisite for taking the course, it is only a way for me to figure out what people expect from the course, and what their outlook is like.

If you are interested in taking this course you can eMail me at: cmatthews@eastlink.ca.

Thank you.

All good wishes,

Carolyn Matthews.

QUESTIONNAIRE

(Your privacy is ensured for ethical reasons, unless you give written permission for your name to be used.  At this point, I am just interested in gathering information, which will help me in designing the course).

  1. What is the perspective that you, as an NDE survivor, have about yourself and about your life since the event?

  2. What was there about the NDE itself that influenced this perspective?

  3. Since the NDE, is there self-awareness of extra-sensory abilities and if so, have these been further developed in a group setting or through a personal teacher?

  4. What are those abilities and gifts?

  5. What kinds of help were/are available to you to learn to adjust to life after the NDE?

  6. Have you done anything for yourself to come to terms with your perspective on life since the NDE?

  7. Have any courses been available to help you, and if so, how have you or other NDErs you know benefited from these?

  8. As an NDEr, how strong is your need to know what your soul’s mission in life is?

  9. Has anyone already offered a course to you or other NDErs on finding the soul’s mission in life, and if so was it helpful?

  10. How much interest do you have in a course of this kind?

  11. If there is interest, are you able to commit to a course for approximately six weeks with one lesson plus homework each week?

  12. What other kinds of suggestions do you have for inclusion in the course?

If anyone has any other thoughts other than those I have asked for in the questionnaire, please feel free to share them with me.  I am open to all suggestions and ready to listen.
