RESEARCH
My current research interests are:
Magnetoencephalography of sleep and dreaming Surveys of near-death experiences, both anecdotal accounts and from coronary care units. End-of-Life Experiences, death-bed visions and death-bed coincidences, anecdotal accounts. Setting up research programme into End-of-Life Experiences
Magnetoencephalography
The use of magnetic field tomography in various psychological and motor paradigms. An ongoing study in conjunction with Dr Andy Ioannides of RIKEN Neuroscience Institute, Tokyo. We have recently shown it is possible to look in detail at cerebella and brain stem activation during eye movements.
Near-Death Experience and End-of-Life Experience Research:
We are planning to set up a 30 hospital and 1000 patient study of cardiac arrests to obtain about 100 NDE accounts, some of whom will have had out-of-body experiences and may have 'seen' targets in the room when unconscious.
We have completed a pilot study of End-of-Life Experiences and now are setting up a full study.
If you have had an NDE (that involved an out-of-body experience) and/or deathbed visions (DBVs), please feel free to share your account(s) with Dr. Fenwick via eMail to: peter_fenwick@compuserve.com.
